Got questions? You’re in the right spot!
How can I shop?
You can conveniently shop with us through our online store. Here, you can check out with ACH, Paypal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link, credit, and debit cards. A 4% fee is included in online product pricing to cover the fees associated with these payment methods. To avoid the added 4% fee, simply email us what you’d like after browsing what’s available online and we’ll send an invoice for you to pay via cash, check, or Venmo.
How do I get my order?
With your convenience in mind, we offer several options for getting your order:
Pickup directly from our homestead in northern Franklin County, NC (by appointment only)
Regular meetups in Louisburg & Youngsville (info in our monthly email)
Twice monthly pickup on Sundays at the Wake Forest NC Local Food Collaborative (email signup near the bottom of the page)
Twice monthly shop & pickup on Saturdays at The Franklinton Market
Weekly pickup & shop during open hours at The Franklinton Market Stand
Occasional availability on Saturdays at The Wake Forest Farmer’s Market (info in our monthly email)
Are your products certified organic?
Due to the certification process being lengthy and expensive, our products are not certified organic. However, we do use locally sourced non-GMO feed for our animals and regenerative methods for the health of our soil, grass, animals, and garden.
Do you have a price list?
We sure do! Check out the current price list here. Please note that prices are subject to change based upon fluctuating input costs throughout the year.
Can you process my own chickens for me?
Due to current NCDA guidelines, we are not able to process your chickens for you. We are exempt poultry processors, meaning we can only butcher and sell what we produce ourselves. We are happy to share our knowledge, but must adhere to these guidelines in order to legally stay in business.
Can my family come watch you butcher chickens?
With our current supplies and setup, we do not have the space or equipment to accommodate other families on butchering days. We are hoping to be able to offer hands on classes in the future as our business expands to a larger facility!
Why is your farm called “Big October”?
In her family, Jenn is the big sister, born in October (hence, Big October!). Several years ago, she and her sister began a craft business called Big October Lil’ April. We eventually went our separate ways to pursue other interests (but are still besties, of course!), but the name stuck for Jenn! Since the name is unique, Jenn & Todd decided to use this when naming their homestead a few years ago. Her sister went on to start Little Hause Photography & Design and is the artist of many of the photos you see here on our website as well as our awesome logo!
